Volk Racing CE28 RT Info and Pics Released! | Japan Wheel Wednesday

Volk is at it again. They’ve released the RT version of the CE28N in select sizes. The wheel looks great and we’re starting to see more high offset wide wheels in 5×100!! The BRZ/FRS/WRX crowd should be doing a jig or at the very least break dancing in public.

Starting with the excellent design of the CE28N, Volk stepped it up made it stronger, lighter and RED!!. As with the TE37RT the Logo on the spokes is now etched into the wheel instead of the traditional sticker. These really look great, I wish they had some more sizes available. Maybe we can get a push for some 18×10 +40mm versions. :naughty:

Enough with the chit chat, check out the wheel (click More below for the full gallery)

Enkei GTC01RR | Japan Wheel Wednesday

It’s Wednesday in Japan, so why not show off a new wheel from Enkei Japan. There has been some chatter about the RS05RR lately since it’s due to finally hit American shores in a few months, time to stir up some interest in the brand new Enkei GTC01RR!! Classic split six spoke design with multiple faces available, and some really nice proposed sizes. Enough talk, take a look at the photos, tell me what you think. Will these be your next set of wheels? Buy Karlton Flares to allow you to run the Rear face on all 4 corners? It’s tempting.

Volk Racing TE37RT | New Wheel info!!

Quick little write up about the new Volk Racing TE37RT. Volk released the info on this wheel earlier in the year and it’s time for an article. The TE37 RT is concave in many different sizes and they even offer an 18×10 in 5×100!! Unfortunately for BBK equipped BRZ/FRS and 04 STI owners the 18×10 +44mm 5×100 doesn’t clear brembos.

The TE37RT is only available in Red, it’s still your standard TE37 6 spoke and it shares a similar concave setup as the TE37SL. It comes in only a select few sizes, but they cover a wide range of applications. Including the BRZ, FRS, STi, EVO, Porsche, GTR etc.

Daytona International Speedway PDX with CFR SCCA (4-13-13)

This past weekend I had the excellent opportunity to drive on the Daytona International Speedway Infield during a SCCA PDX. The course is known as the “School Course”, it utilizes a 1.2 mile modified version of the 24hr infield. If you’re unfamiliar with PDX or HPDE track days they are an excellent entry into the world of track driving. I had never ran with SCCA at a track day so I was assigned an instructor. My instructor did an excellent job pointing out the places for improvement and the important understanding of the flags and worker station locations.

Saturday was organized into 3 different groups. Group 1 – Advanced/Intermediate Solo drivers Group 2 – Race Drivers School and Group 3 – Novice/Intermediate with Instructors.

I was in Group 3.

I arrived at the track just after 6:30am and met up with a fellow MSCC member who was driving and instructing that day. It was still dark and registration wasn’t open yet, so I picked the brain of a more experienced driver for a little while. We headed to registration and shortly thereafter through the turn 4 tunnel onto the Daytona International Speedway infield. We got there early enough to snag some garage spots and we unloaded the cars and headed over to tech inspection.

After everything was inspected, we did some parade laps to get a feel for the course and how it was laid out. My instructor drove my car and the first thing he commented on was the Kartboy/TiC Shifter and Bushing setup. After the parade laps we had a quick driver’s meeting then it was time for Group 1 to hit the track. During this time I did some final preparations to the car (checked to make sure the trunk monkey was ok), and waited for Group 1 and Group 2 to finish their sessions.

About 30 minutes later it was time to Grid for Group 3. To say the least I was excited. The rest of the day we’d race then let Groups 1 and 2 run then we’d be up again. Stay HYDRATED. I can’t stress this enough, you’ll think you’ve had enough water then 10 minutes in your mouth is dry and you’re THIRSTY! So drink plenty of fluids during the morning and throughout the day

Here’s the video from Session 1,2,3 and 4.

AutoX: CFR SCCA @ The FIRM Feb 24th 2013

Sunday morning 4:45am It’s Finger Lickin’ Good Yall, finger lickin’ good, Mike D what’s up!?. My brain comes around to some of the best alarm clock tunes known to man. I realize it’s almost 5am and time to get up and get ready for the drive to Starke. Quick background on FIRM, it’s reported to be one of the best event locations for an AutoX in FL. Everyone I spoke to simply said, “You have to go”. I asked for details and no-one would divulge much, I was a little worried to be honest. I wasn’t sure what to expect, the satellite imagery showed multiple different potential places to hold an event.

Pulling into The FIRM at 8:05am signing the SCCA and FIRM liability waivers and driving down a curvy gravel road I start having a day dream/hallucination where I started hearing Nicky Grist giving me some pace notes. Luckily Abby brought me back before I did something stupid by saying “this road is bumpy”. I shook my head a bit and realized I wasn’t in a GC WRC Rally Car, but in my STi setup for tarmac. ahaha.
